Description:
CzechCARBO is an integration project that forms the linkage to the European project CARBOEUROPE. The aim of the project is an investigation of the carbon cycle in the terrestrial ecosystems of the Czech Republic, including impact studies of physiological responses. Carbon fluxes are monitored by the eddy-covariance technique. These results are used for the quantification of carbon sinks and pools in various types of ecosystems. Moreover, socio-economic changes are studied under this project. There is also a strong link of this project to the reporting requirements under the Kyoto protocol.
CzechCARBO has eight work-packages. IFER is responsible for the Work-package 4 (Regional system for the assessment of carbon balance in forest ecosystems applicable in connection with the reporting requirements under the Kyoto Protocol) and 5 (Model assessment of forest carbon sink development on regional/national level). These work-packages are collaborative effort of IFER and FMI (see project partners).
